Maryland Payroll Tax Requirements
There are 2 required tax items you need in order to get setup for payroll.

Central Registration Number
New businesses can register online. Successful registration will generate your Central Registration Number within 5-7 business days.
Unemployment Insurance Employer Number and Tax Rate
New businesses can register online. You will be able to view your UI Employer Number and Tax Rate online after successfully completing your online registration.

You can find your Central Registration Number on any previously filed Annual Reconciliation Return (Form MW-508), or you can contact the Comptroller at (800) MD-TAXES

Your ten-digit Unemployment Insurance Employer Number can be found on any previously filed quarterly report (Form DLLR/DUI 15/16), or you can contact the Department of Labor at (410) 767-2413.

Your Unemployment Insurance Tax Rate can be found in your online portal.
Link us as your third-party administrator to ensure we are able to complete the quarterly filings and amendments (if applicable) in a timely manner.
Steps to grant TPA
The tax agency requires a signed POA form to authorize the TPA access online.

Log into your Maryland Beacon Portal.

Select Account Maintenance from the menu options.

Select the Agent Assignment icon.

Next, select the Add Agent tab.

In the Search Agent field, enter the Agent ID [ENTER ID] and select the Search button.

The Agent Employer Relation Details field populates with the Agent's information.
Legal company name: [ADD PROVIDER NAME]

Select POA to upload the signed Power of Attorney form generated by [ENTER PAYROLL PROVIDER].

Select the following roles:

Wage Submission (Original and Amended)

Payment Submission

Account Maintenance Updates

For the roles with an Access Begin Date, enter the date listed on the POA.

Leave the Access End Date blank.

Select Save to complete the TPA assignment. The Assigned Agent list should display [ENTER PROVIDER NAME] as your agent.

Go to the Taxes & Compliance section.

Select Tax Setup and scroll to Maryland Tax Setup.

Select Manage Taxes.

Select Edit next to Third Party Authorization.

Select Yes, I have authorized [ENTER PROVIDER NAME].

Select Save.
