Lost Referrals

If no Contract authorizes service, users may opt to drop the case. Complete the following steps to mark a submission as Rejected and drop a Referral case entirely.

  1. Go to Patient > Referral Management > ReferralSearch and locate the desired Referral.

  2. On the Referral Info page, scroll down to the Submissions section. Select Rejected from the Status dropdown prompting a Reason column dropdown to populate.

  3. Select a Reason for the rejection for record-keeping purposes.

    Values for the Reasons field are generated on the Reference Table Management function.

  4. Scroll to the top of the page to the Referral Info section. Select Lost from the Status dropdown. A Reason dropdown appears prompting one to enter the applicable reason.

  5. Click the Save button to finalize. The Referral is now listed as Lost in the system.

A Lost Referral may still be converted into a Patient later if the Agency finds a Payer to authorize service.
