Service Code Bundles
Service Code Bundles, created by Payers, refer to multiple services and respective Service Codes covered under one authorization. This functionality ties all services and codes into a single Authorization instead of one authorization per Service Code; thereby, eliminating multiple authorizations for the same services.
When a Service Code Bundle is assigned to an Authorization, Providers can use any of the included Allowed Service Codes to record and bill for the service(s) performed on a visit. Authorizations that include Service Code Bundles are denoted with a paper stack icon next to the Authorization’s Service Code. Hovering over the icon opens an Allowed Service Codes pop out window displaying the included Service Codes, as seen in the following image.
The Stack icon appears across the application in various Patient pages to include Placements, Authorizations/Orders, Calendar, Master Week, and Appointments where the Authorization is referenced.
Payers can use existing Service Codes to create Service Code Bundles. In cases where an existing Service Code is used to create a Service Code Bundle and/or is already in use on existing Authorizations, then those Authorizations are not affected. The Service Code continues to operate normally for the existing Authorizations.
Notes:
-
A Service Code Bundle cannot be combined with another bundle; in other words, no bundle within a bundle.
-
Rates are still set at the individual Service Code level for each code in a Service Code Bundle.
