What is a FOB?

In HHAeXchange, a FOB (Fixed Object, or Alternative Device) is one of the methods used to record electronic visit verification (EVV). A FOB is a small device, located and fixed at a service location, such as a Patient’s home, that generates automatic codes used to verify the date and time when a visit begins and ends.

EVV can be placed from any phone by calling the toll-free number assigned to an agency or via the HHAeXchange+ Mobile app within seven days of the visit.

FOB Requirements to place an EVV

The following are required to record electronic visit verification (EVV) when using the FOB method:

  • Fixed object (FOB) Passcode: An eight-digit number code generated from the device, used to record the exact date and time of the EVV in the HHAeXchange system.

  • Fixed object (FOB) Device ID: a unique identification number specifying the device that produced the passcode.
